New Delhi : Geeta Phogat, also known as the "Dangal Girl," claimed on Thursday evening via a tweet that she had been arrested by the Delhi Police. She wrote on Twitter, "I was going to meet my siblings who were protesting with my husband Pawan Saroha at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. During this time, the Delhi Police stopped us on Karnal Bypass."

She further stated, "They then took us to the police station and said we only had two options: either go back or go to the police station. After that, we were arrested. It's very unfortunate." However, there has been no official statement from the Delhi Police regarding this incident.

Conflict arose between the police and the wrestlers last night

After the commotion at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday night, the wrestlers are reportedly furious. They allege that the Delhi Police resorted to violence against the protesting wrestlers. Some wrestlers sustained injuries during this altercation. In response to the incident, Vinesh Phogat announced that all the medals she won at the national and international level would be returned. She stated, "We are being humiliated, dragged on the ground. In such circumstances, we will return all our medals. Likewise, Bajrang Punia said, "If this is how we are treated, then what should we do with our medals? We will return them to the Indian government."

Mahavir Phogat to return the Dronacharya Award

Mahavir Phogat, the renowned wrestling coach, has issued a warning about returning the Dronacharya Award. He said, "If athletes are not given justice, I will not keep the Dronacharya Award and will return it." He criticized the attack on the wrestlers sitting at Jantar Mantar. It should be noted that the wrestlers initiated a campaign on Saturday with the hashtag #arrestbrijbhushannow. Vinesh posted using this hashtag, saying, "Your support in this fight for justice against injustice is our strength. On the other hand, Bajrang wrote, "Electricity and water have been cut off here. In this fight against injustice, we are becoming the voice of our daughters. You also fulfill your duty and join us."
