YC Modi replaces Sharad Kumar as the new NIA chief: MHA

New Delhi : Y C Modi has replaced Sharad Kumar, who will be retiring on October 30, as the National Investigation Agency chief. Ministry of Home Affairs issued the order on Monday.

Mr Modi had been a part of Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team that probed 2002 Gujarat Riots. In 2015, he was appointed as the additional director of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He has also served as Additional Director General of Police in Shillong.

Y.C. Modi is a famous name for his three most important cases involving the post-Godhra riots: Gulberg Society, Naroda Patiya and Naroda Gam.
