ABVp to file a police complaint against 'anti-national' posters in JNU

New Delhi : The ABVP on Friday said it will soon file a police complaint against the appearance of "anti-national" posters in the JNU campus.

"These posters were allegedly pasted inside the campus by Democratic Students Union (DSU) and our delegation complained to the JNU administration on Friday and demanded action against DSU and the students behind such anti-national stuff but the administration claimed these posters were from last year," Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's (ABVP) Delhi State Secretary Bharat Khatana told IANS.

The controversy cropped up on Thursday evening when some students found certain posters inside the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus which called for freedom for Kashmir and Palestine and "right for self determination".

"We have also complained to Lt Governor Anil Baijal about such anti-national posters inside JNU campus during our meeting with him at Raj Niwas.

"We have asked him to direct the Delhi Police to file a chargesheet in the February 9, 2016, anti-national sloganeering by Umar Khalid and DSU supporters in JNU and now in Delhi University," Khatana said.

"We will file a complaint against DSU for putting such posters with anti-national content inside JNU campus," he added.

The police however said they are yet to hear from the students on this issue and have not been asked to file a complaint.

"We have not received any complaint from any students organisation and JNU administration over any posters. We are waiting for a formal complaint before taking any action," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chinmoy Biswal told IANS.
