BJP MP Rama Devi refuses Azam Khan's apology over sexist remark

New Delhi : BJP MP Rama Devi on Friday refused to accept the apology by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who had made sexist remark against her in the Lok Sabha. Sources have said that Azam Khan has been asked to tender an apology for his remarks against the BJP MP when she was chairing the session. However, Rama Devi has not accepted his apology.

"Time to apologise has passed. He was asked to apologise by me, the Speaker and by several MPs but he did not apologise. Instead, he chose to walk out of the House. It indicates that he is not sorry and his heart is filled with filth and ego. If he was truthful, he would have apologised then and there," BJP MP Rama Devi told India Today TV.

It has been learned that Azam Khan has been asked to tender an apology in front of the speaker Om Birla on Monday, before the House convenes. If Azam Khan does not apologises then strict proceedings will follow during the Zero Hour against him.

Sources have indicated the Speaker could also reach out to Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in the matter.
