Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk JP Agarwal holds Padyatra in Majnu Ka Tila, Delhi University

New Delhi : As the poll campaigning in Delhi entered its last week, Congress's Lok Sabha candidate Jai Prakash Agarwal on morning did Padyatra in various settlements in Majnu Ka Tila which included Sanshi Basti, Punjabi Basti, Kohli Basti, and Balmiki Basti. Tibati Market, Delhi will go to polls on May 12 (Sunday).

People greeted Mr JP Agarwal warmly and welcomed with garland and assured to support him with a huge majority. During the campaigning, Mr Agarwal met people in the area, and listened to their views and discussed their issues. In the Padyatra Mr Agarwal was accompanied by former Congress MLA Prahalad Singh Sahni, former corporator Amod Sharma, Anil Sharma, विकास टांक and a large number of Congress workers.

While interacting with the people Mr Agarwal reiterated, "Congress will come out victorious not just in Chandni Chowk, instead we are going to snatch all seven seats of Delhi from the BJP. During Congress' rule, Delhi was making constant progress. We built flyovers in Delhi, the traders were happy due to our pro-trader policies, the common man was happy under the Congress rule."

Terming the GST law as anti-traders, Mr Agarwal said, "The Congress never complicated the tax system to trouble the traders. But in the BJP government's rule, the common man, the traders, as well as the workers are all facing a lot of problems due to the complicated tax laws. It has rendered them helpless by badly impacting their income."

Mr Agarwal further stated, "After coming to power at the Centre the Congress, buses will introduce buses on the roads of Delhi keeping the women's safety in mind. More universities will be opened in Delhi, women will be given 33% reservation. We will bring an end to all the problems of the traders. They will not have to worry about any front.

"In these five years of Modi Government, the traders in Delhi have faced a lot of troubles due to GST, Sealing and Demonetisation. It was a misfortune for the common man to run his home in those days. Several went jobless, and those who had their jobs, could not go to the office because they had to stand in the queue to withdraw their hard-earned money from the banks during Demonetisation. But the sitting MP never raised the problems of the businessmen, labourers and common man in the cabinet meetings. And after 5 years, he is back on the streets of Chandni Chowk to demand votes. Now you have to decide that people who hurt you for five years must be voted out of power and taught a lesson or not."

Sangay, who lives in the Tibetan market of Majnu Ka Tila, said, "As far as I am concerned when the Congress government was in power we were actually experiencing 'Achhe Din'. The condition today reminds me of the popular yesteryear Hindi film song sung by Mukesh Kumar, 'Jane Kahan... Gaye Wo Din, Kehte The Hum Teri Yaad Mein... Nazaron Ko Hum Bichhaenge...' So it's high time the Congress government comes back to power for 'Achhe Din' to return."
