Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Shiela Dikshit: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

Lucknow : Former Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit passed away at the age of 81 on Saturday. Due to prolonged illness she was shifted to hospital on Saturday morning but later she suffered a cardiac arrest and took her last breath at 3.55 pm at a city hospital.

Dr Ashok Seth, director, Escorts Fortis said Sheila Dikshit was managed well by a team of doctors. "At 3:15 pm she again suffered a cardiac arrest. She was put on ventilator and at 3:55 pm she passed away peacefully," he told news agency ANI.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said she is deeply saddened with the sudden demise of the senior Congress leader. "Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. She loved me, whatever she did for Delhi&the country, people will remember it. She was a big leader of party,her contribution towards party, politics of nation and especially to Delhi, is immense," she told reporters.

Shiela Dikshit had served as Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years.
