Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh is likely to get a hung assembly with the BJP at the head of a splintered verdict while the AAP may finish on top of a three-way fight in Punjab, most exit polls said on Thursday.

The BJP was predicted to get a majority in Congress-ruled Uttarakhand, according to four of the five exit polls following balloting in five states between February 4 and March 8. The vote count is due on Saturday.

1: UP Assembly Elections Exit Polls result: BJP closest to threshold number of seats

It will be a hung assembly in Uttar Pradesh with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging closest to the threshold of 202 seats in the 403-seat assembly, exit polls forecast on Thursday. Of the five exit polls by ABP-CSDS, TimesNow-VMR, India TV-CVoter, India Today-Axis and MRC, only Axis suggested the BJP getting a clear majority with 265 seats. The rest predicted that the BJP would stay below the 200-mark.

2: Exit polls 2017: Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in close race in Punjab Assembly Elections

Punjab was poised for a tight finish between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in the assembly polls with two exit polls giving the same number of seats to the two parties. In two other exit polls, Congress was ahead in one and AAP in the other, but all the polls predicted that the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance was headed for a huge drubbing in the 117-member assembly.

3: Uttarakhand Assembly Elections Exit Polls: BJP likely to claim majority

The BJP was projected to win Uttarakhand assembly polls by various exit polls on Thursday with projections ranging from 35 to 53 seats for the party in the 70-member house.

4: BJP may retain power in Goa: Exit poll

The BJP could retain power in Goa, winning 18-22 seats in the 40-member assembly, an India Today-Axis My India exit poll said. The Congress is projected to get 9-13 seats, it said.

5: Congress to retain Manipur: Exit poll

The Congress is predicted to retain power in Manipur, winning 30-36 seats in the 60-member assembly, an India Today-Axis My India exit poll said. The BJP is projected to get 16-22 seats, it said.
