Mukul Roy joins BJP, says he is privileged to work under PM Modi

New Delhi : Former Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy on Friday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi.

"Today a veteran public figure and political leader Mukul Roy has joined BJP," Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a press conference.

He added that Roy’s experience will be benefit the party. “His experience will benefit us surely I believe,” said Prasad.

Talking to the reporters over his new innings, Mr Mukul Roy said that he is privileged to get a chance to work under PM Narendra Modi. “Today I have Joined BJP and it’s my proud privilege to work under PM Modi,” said Roy.

Roy, a founder member of the Trinamool Congress, quit the party on September 25. He resigned as the party's Rajya Sabha member on October 11.

Roy was suspended for six years for “anti-party activities” by the TMC following his announcement on September 25 that he would resign from the party after Durga Puja.
