Gautam Gambhir files defamation case against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from East Delhi Lok Sabha seat Gautam Gambhir filed a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

His action comes after Atishi held a press conference on Thursday blaming him of distributing offensive pamphlets. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also slammed the cricketer turned politician for an alleged act.

“I condemn what has happened. I am from a family where I have been taught to respect women. I didn’t know CM Arvind Kejriwal would stoop so low. I have filed a defamation case,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Earlier, Gautam Gambhir on Thursday alleged that it is a bottom level of politics being played by Arvind Kejriwal to frame false charges against him. He also said that he will resign if any of the charges gets proved.

While reading out the contents of the pamphlet, Atishi broke down but continued reading it out to the media persons present. She started, “BJP people and Gautam Gambhir circulated this pamphlet in every household along with the morning newspaper… This shows how low they can stoop to win elections… This pamphlet distributed by Gambhir’s team reads- Know your candidate Atishi Marlena. She is married to a Christian from Andhra Pradesh that is a beef eater. She is a good example of a mixed breed… What kind of education policies can she make if she has worked only as a primary school teacher…”
