New Delhi : In a major setback to political leader Ahmed Patel, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday announced that it will vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in upcoming Rajya Sabha Polls in Gujarat.

However, Ahmed Patel is sure that he has enough support to win the upcoming elections with a major fraction belonging to the JD(U) and NCP.

NCP legislator Kandhal Jadeja announced that the party has decided to support Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Our party has asked us to support BJP in tomorrow’s RS elections,” Jadeja said.

Recently, 44 Congress MLAs were shifted to Bengaluru amid accusations that the saffron party is 'intimidating and torturing' Congress MLAs and their families.

Of the 57 party legislators in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly, six quit the party on July 26 and three of them joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on July 28. Of the remaining 51 MLAs, seven, including Shankersinh Vaghela, did not join those who were flown to Bengaluru.
