Chennai : E Palanisamy on Thursday took oath as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu, is this beginning of 'remote control' government? Some reports suggest that Sasikala may rule AIADMK from jail.

This is not new, India had seen a similar scenario in past; Lalu Prasad had appointed his wife Rabri Devi as the chief after being lodged in jail. It is believed that Lalu was taking all the major decisions from prison.

Another one is former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who allegedly worked on the directions of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

There are more examples, but what remains a big question is will Palanisamy act like a remote control leader for Sasikala? But before everything else, the major is that he needs to prove majority within two weeks from now.

The assembly has, however, been convened on Saturday and the Sasikala faction said it was confident of proving its majority of at least 117 legistors in the house of 234.

"We have the support of 125 legislators and we will prove our majority," V.N.Virugai Ravi, a legislator, told IANS.
