No official word on Navjot Singh Sidhu as Delhi Congress chief yet

New Delhi : With sudden demise of former Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit, there were news reports which claimed that the vacant position will be filled by Navjot Singh Sidhu. However, Congress denied any such decision.

News agency ANI quoted a source in one of its reports who claimed that Navjot Singh Sidhu, who resigned from his post in Punjab recently, will be given the new post in Delhi.

"It is likely to be decided after the national party president is finalised. There is a potential possibility that Sidhu is given the Delhi PCC responsibility," ANI quoted the sources as saying.

But, Congress Delhi-in-charge PC Chako denied the report and said, "There is no such discussion in my knowledge. No meeting of the (Delhi unit) has taken place so far to decide on the Delhi Congress chief's post."

Navjot Sidhu, a lawmaker from Amritsar East in Punjab, quit the Punjab government after what he believed was a downgrade in a cabinet shuffle by Amarinder Singh.
