Opposition raises Farooq Abdullah's detention ahead of winter session in Parliament

New Delhi : While Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that his government is ready to listen to all issues in the upcoming winter parliament session. Opposition raised Farooq Abdullah's detention issue during an all-party meeting. They demanded that he must be allowed to attend the Parliament session.

During the all-party meeting, the opposition also demanded that major issues like economic slowdown, job loss and farm distress must also be discussed during the winter parliament session.

At the meeting attended by 27 parties, Prime Minister Modi said the most important job of the House is to discuss and debate, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters.

According to Pralhad Joshi, PM Narendra Modi also said that this winter session should also be as productive as the last one.

“Government is ready to discuss all issues within the framework of rules and procedures of the Houses,” Mr. Modi was quoted as saying.

While talking about Farooq Abdullah's detention, National Conference MP Hasnain Masoodi said that the government is under constitutional obligation to ensure Mr. Abdullah’s participation in the Parliament session.

“How can a parliamentarian be detained illegally? He should be allowed to attend Parliament,” Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

Winter Session will start from November 18 and will end on December 13.
