Priyanka Chaturvedi quits Congress, joins Shiv Sena

Mumbai : Congress National spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi, miffed over the reinstatement of some leaders who had misbehaved with her, resigned from her post and joined hands with Shiv Sena.

She officially joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Uddhav Thackeray. "I am thankful to Uddhav ji for respecting me and welcoming me into the party," she said.

Priyanka Chaturvedi ruled out speculations that she has resigned from the Congress party after she was denied a Lok Sabha ticket this election.

Welcoming her into the party, Uddhav Thackeray said that with her, the party has received a 'good sister'.

Earlier, she tweeted her resignation on Twitter, where she expressed her gratitude to the party for the support in last three years.

Chaturvedi in her resignation letter said, "In last few weeks, certain things have convinced me that my services are not valued in the organisation and that I have reached the end of the road. At the same time, I also feel that more time I spend in the organisation will be at the cost of my own self-respect and dignity."

Talking about Congress, she said the party projects women empowerment and safety but this does not reflect in their actual actions.

Soon after submitting her resignation, Priyanka also changed her bio on the social networking website Twitter.
