New Delhi : Sonia Gandhi has been elected leader of Congress Parliamentary Party once again at a meeting of Party MPs on Saturday. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh suggested her name, said a media report. Sonia Gandhi, who won Lok Sabha Elections 2019 seat from Rai Bareli, is the chairperson of Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

“Smt. Sonia Gandhi elected as the leader of Congress Parliamentary Party! She says, ‘we thank the 12.13 Cr voters for reposing faith in the Congress Party’,” Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also congratulated her mother for being elected as the leader of CPP. He said that the party will emerge out strong and will fight to save the Constitution of India.

The meeting, which comes a week after Rahul offered to quit as Congress president, was attended by the party’s 52 newly elected Lok Sabha MPs and Rajya Sabha members.
