Sonrise in Tamil Nadu, DMK elevates Stalin as Working President
Chennai : Two sons hogging the limelight in India, one is Akhilesh in north and the other is Stalin in South. The UP CM has snatched power from his father and on the other hand the DMK treasurer has succeed his father.
In a huge move, DMK appointed party Treasurer MK Stalin as its Working President, marking his elevation to the top post as patriarch Karunanidhi is recovering after illness.
63-year-old Stalin’s elevation to the post shows another example of nepotism in Indian politics.
This is the first time in the history, a working president post has been created for Stalin. The working president will have the powers of the president.
Though in hierarchy, the president continues to be the top post, the working president’s post is seen as the numero uno position now given the failing health of Karunanidhi who was recently hospitalised twice for illness.
Party organisation secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, R S Barathy moved the resolution proposing Stalin’s elevation as Working President and it was also seconded by party principal secretary Durai Murugan.
