London : Manchester City's Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has extended his contract by a year until 2021, the English football club announced Friday.

The 30-year-old joined Man City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid, and became the Citizens' all-time top goalscorer with 204 goals in 299 appearances, reports Efe.

"I am happy for this additional year. My idea was being here for 10 years. I've been here for seven years, it's going to be 10 when the contract expires," Aguero told Man City TV.

"Hopefully, that's going to happen. This was the main reason I signed," he added.

The club's director Txiki Begiristain praised the Argentina international saying: "We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years and I'm sure our supporters will be thrilled with this news."

The Sky Blues are scheduled for a clash with Cardiff City on Saturday at the Cardiff City Stadium in Wales.
