BJP postpones national executive meet following Vajpayee's demise
New Delhi : The two-day BJP national executive meet was postponed on Thursday following the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"At this time of crisis, all party programmes are being cancelled," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah said in a statement mourning the former Prime Minister's death.
Vajpayee died here on Thursday following a prolonged illness. He was 93.
"Scheduled national executive meet is also postponed till next intimation. In a mark of respect for Vajpayee ji, the flags at all the party offices will remain bent down," Shah said.
The meeting was scheduled to be held in the national capital for August 18-19.
The last meeting of the national executive, a platform for the BJP to set its national political agenda, had taken place in September last year.
The BJP's constitution mandates holding of the national executive meeting every three months.
