Brussels Airlines to bow out of Mumbai
Mumbai : Citing economic constraints, Belgium's national carrier Brussels Airlines will cease its Mumbai sector services from January 2019, it was announced here on Wednesday.
The development comes barely 18 months after the airline launched the Mumbai-Brussels route in March 2017, its first-ever in the Indian sub-continent, and claimed good patronage among Indian leisure and business travellers.
Initially the airline offered five weekly services and then added a sixth frequency.
But the sector did not deliver the anticipated results forcing the carrier to withdraw and use the flight capacity to strengthen its existing African network, the key intercontinental market for Brussels Airlines.
Accordingly, on January 7 next year, Brussels Airlines will operate its last flight on the Mumbai-Brussels sector, discontinuing operations for economic reasons.
