Delhi HC's to get new block on Wednesday

New Delhi : The newly constructed grand building at the Delhi High Court, which is equipped with microphone in each courtroom, will be inaugurated on Wednesday, it was announced on Tuesday.

The new block will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and the inaugural function will be attended by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Delhi's Lt. Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal among others.

The new block accommodates 15 courtrooms across four floors and nine Registrars' courts on the ground floor. This brings the existing number of courtrooms to 50 for judges and nine for Registrars, an official statement said.

The new block has added 16 new chambers for judges and nine chambers for Registrars and additional work space for judicial offices.

Optimal utilization of natural light which seeps in from the top and all sides and green walls on each floor are its unique feature.

The building is designed to cater to the needs of differently-abled litigants and lawyers with tactile flooring and specially designed toilets for differently-abled people.
