Eight killed in Jharkhand accidents

Ranchi : Eight persons, including five employees of the Jharkhand Electricity Board, were killed in two separate road accidents in Jharkhand on Saturday, police said.

According to a police officer, five officials of Jharkhand Electricity board died in a road accident in Seraikela-Kharsawa district on early Saturday.

The officials including engineers had gone for some work at a power grid in West Singhbhum district on Friday.

After completing the work, the officials were on their way back to Ranchi in an SUV, Bolero.

The Bolero collided with a tractor in front of residence of Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawa district. Five persons died on the spot and the driver sustained serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Assistant Engineer Amit Kumar Dubey, Junior Engineer Bipin Bihari Singh and three other staff.

The injured driver has been admitted to a hospital and his condition is said to be serious.

The second accident took place at Kejia valley in Ramgarh district. A bus carrying at least 30 people overturned following which three persons were killed and more than 20 injured.

The bus was travelling to Bokaro from Ranchi. The injured people have been admitted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for treatment.
