St. Petersburg : England national football team returned to their training grounds here on Thursday after their defeat in the 2018 FIFA World Cup semifinal clash against Croatia.

Croatia stunned England 2-1 on Wednesday in an extra-time thriller to become the second-smallest nation in history to reach the World Cup final, reports Efe.

On Thursday, the Three Lions flew from the Russian capital Moscow to St. Petersburg, where they are set to play the third-place playoff against Belgium on Saturday.

The English squad is to do recovery exercises behind closed doors.

In injury news, England's right back and near-hero of the match Kieran Trippier, who delivered a perfect strike to put his team ahead in the fifth minute of Wednesday's game and then left in the second period with groin injury, is, according to UK media outlets, likely done for this tournament given the severity of his injury.
