FIR filed against Rajen Gohain for molestation, withdrawn

Guwahati : A woman in Assam's Nagaon district, who had lodged an FIR against Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain accusing him of molestation, has withdrawn the case, police said on Friday.

Nagaon Superintendent of Police S.B. Raimedhi said that the woman has submitted a letter saying that she wants to withdraw the FIR against the Union Minister.

"The woman lodged an FIR based on which we have registered a case under sections 417, 376 and 506 of the IPC. However, she has now submitted a letter saying that the FIR was lodged due to some misunderstanding and that she wants to withdraw the case," said Raimedhi.

"But, we are going ahead as per law. We have recorded her statement and will conduct medical examination. We will also interrogate the accused if required," he added.
