Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government on Sunday asked the Collectors of coastal districts to remain alert as the Met Department has predicted heavy rainfall till October 30 in the state.

"Collectors of Puri, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajnam, Bhadrak and Balasore have been asked to remain alert in view of the possible heavy rainfall forecast," said Joint Special Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra.

The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) also directed all deputy directors of fisheries and coastal districts' fishery officers to ensure the safe return of all fishing boats and vessels to the coast.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that a low pressure was likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around October 29.

Under its influence, enhanced rainfall activity is likely to occur over Odisha during October 28 to 30, said the IMD.
