Rome : Roma routed visiting Sampdoria 4-1 in Serie A, with Italian winger Stephan El Shaarawy scoring a brace here at the Stadio Olimpico.

Brazilian defender Juan Jesus opened the scoring for Roma in the 19th minute off an assist from midfielder Bryan Cristante, and Roma went to the half with a 1-0 lead on Sunday, reports Efe news.

After the intermission, Roma forward Patrik Schick seized on an assist from defender Aleksandar Kolarov to double the lead in the 59th minute.

El Shaarawy scored his first goal of the night in the 72nd minute. But with one minute to go before stoppage time, Sampdoria striker Gregoire Defrel managed to get his side on the scoreboard with an assist from substitute Jacopo Sala.

However, El Shaarawy was not done yet and found the visitors' net for a last-gasp goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Roma climbs to the sixth spot in the Serie A standings with 19 points, while Sampdoria remains in the 12th place in the table with 15 points.
