San Lorenzo defeated by Temuco in Copa Sudamericana
Santiago de Chile : Argentine football club San Lorenzo lost to Chilean Deportes Temuco 0-1 but managed to qualify for the round-of-16 of the Copa Sudamericana.
The Chilean team won the match with a goal by Matias Donoso during the additional time on Wednesday, but it was not enough for the team to overcome San Lorenzo's 3-0 victory given by the CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) in the first leg as Temuco's new signing Jonathan Requena was deemed ineligible, reports Efe.
In that match, Temuco surprisingly won against San Lorenzo 2-1 in Buenos Aires.
The Chilean team was far superior to the Argentine, but San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Nicolas Navarro blocked almost every attempt.
Temuco began the game at a fast pace. After only 10 minutes into the game it managed to create three good opportunities to get ahead of the Argentine, but Navarro saved them all.
Matias Donoso attempted to make the first goal with a header in the first minute, then Mathias Riquero tried at point-blank range, and Alfredo Abalos took the shot from the far right side, which Navarro again successfully blocked with an extraordinary stretch.
In the 21st minute Ruben Farfan shot the ball from outside the area but it hit the crossbar.
The same dynamic was still there well into the start of the second half, with the Chilean team trying to shake the Argentine goal, but the ball collided again and again with the goalkeeper.
In the additional time, Donoso finally scored a header.
