Sisodia inaugurates tennis courts, academy for school students
New Delhi : As part of the Delhi government's efforts to promote sports amongst students, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday inaugurated five tennis courts and a tennis academy at a government school in the national capital.
"Inaugurated first tennis academy and 5 tennis Courts in a Delhi Government school in Punjabi Bagh! Former international tennis player Puneet Rawat and his team of coaches will coach players from government and private schools from nearby areas," Sisodia tweeted."The launch of this initiative at the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya No. 2 in Punjabi Bagh saw more than 170 students from government schools in surrounding areas enrolling to get coached," Sisodia's office said in a statement. The initiative comes under the policy of Delhi government which allowed and invited private academies to use the premises of Delhi government schools for free, commercially, on the condition that they will ensure that half of all the enrolments are from government schools and no fees is charged from these students."There should be no difference in quality of training. The academy should ensure that there is no segregation or partiality between the students from surrounding areas who are paying and the students of Delhi government schools," Sisodia said.He also asked the MLA of the area and the school Principal to explore the possibilities of organising inter-school tournaments, once the students are comfortable with the game.
