Teenager accused of theft, beaten to death in Delhi (Lead)

New Delhi : A teenage boy was allegedly beaten to death by six men here on Tuesday after he entered a house to steal valuables, police said. Two men have been arrested.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Aslam Khan said the boy was thrashed in Mukundpur area. The DCP said a case of culpable homicide has been registered against the accused.

"Two persons have been arrested while four others are absconding," the officer said.

The call reporting the theft was received by the police around 6.35 a.m. while the incident happened at 3.30 a.m., neighbours said.

Hailing from Arariya, Bihar, the victim had been staying with his uncles for about a month. "He had come to get enrolled in a school after studying at a madrasa," his uncle told IANS.

Police said a woman saw him stealing a wallet belonging to her brother-in-law from their house. "After she woke everyone, they beat him up. They kept thrashing him till he died."

His body was found outside their residence.
