Ahmedabad/ Bengaluru : In a bid to celebrate creativity and promote a shared understanding of the best practices in design, two independent design festivals will kick off on Friday in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru respectively.

The India Design Confluence will be held at the United World Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. Presiding the event as chief guest will be Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani, followed by lectures and master sessions from creative powerhouses in the design industry, hands-on workshops that focus on knowledge generation and idea development, paper presentations that involve visual props and illustrations, and panel discussions to trigger a constructive exchange of views.

The three-day event will host diverse speakers, including Sunil Sethi (President, Fashion Design Council of India), Rajeev Sethi (Designer, Scenographer and Art Curator) and among others, Angela Guzman (Design Lead, Google).

Also beginning on Friday will be Bengaluru ByDesign, which focuses on demystifying design and making it more accessible to the public through installations, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, events, screenings, pop-ups, talks and more.

The 10-day first edition of the festival aims to cover three key themes: Design & Public; Design & Education; and Design & Business.
