Urns with Vajpayee's ashes handed over to state BJP presidents

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders including BJP National President Amit Shah on Wednesday distributed urns carrying ashes of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to party presidents of all state units.

Vajpayee's ashes will be immersed in different rivers following condolence meetings even at the taluka level, the Bharatiya Janata Party tweeted.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj were among those present during the ceremony.

Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai said all party condolence meetings will be held from booth level to district level in the state from August 27 to September 1.

"Ashes will be immersed in various rivers of Bihar including Ganga, Sarayu, Narayani, Bagmati, Mahananda, Kosi in next few days," Rai told IANS.
