Canberra : Former Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt has been offered a contract by Australia's Central Coast Mariners soccer club, media reports said.

This comes just over a week after a trial game where the 32-year-old Jamaican scored two goals as centre forward for the club in an Australian League pre-season game in Sydney, Xinhua news agency reported.

Ricky Simms, the agent for the eight-time gold medalist confirmed the news about the offer from the Gosford-based club in New South Wales late on Sunday.

Coach Mike Mulvey had earlier expressed ignorance about any offer to the retired sprinter, whom he was willing to give a year to prove himself.

Bolt, who has drawn record crowds to his appearances with the Mariners while receiving mixed reviews by pundits in his first seven weeks with the club, scored two second-half goals on Sunday.

The world's former fastest man has turned down an offer to join Malta's Valletta FC.
