Jawed Habib apologizes for spitting on woman's head
New Delhi : Celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib encountered controversy after he was seen spitting over the head of a woman in a video that went viral on social media.
After facing flak over his action, Habib issued an apology in another video in which he mentioned that such things are often done with a “humourous” intent during workshops but said that he was sincerely sorry if someone had felt hurt.
“Some words spoken by me during my seminar have hurt a few people,” said the popular hairdresser in his video statement. “I just want to say one thing… these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I'm sorry.”
The incident had taken place at Habib's workshop in Muzaffarnagar. In the video, he was seen spitting on the head of a woman and was heard saying, “if there is a scarcity of water, use saliva.”
The National Commission for Women has asked the Uttar Pradesh police to probe the veracity of the purported video.
