New Delhi : Winters are at its peak for Delhi residents as the national capital registered 3.6 degree Celsius temperature at Safdarjung in the morning at 8:30 am. The weather stations at Ayanagar and Lodhi Road recorded a low of 2.6 degrees Celsius and 2.7 degrees Celsius respectively, it added.

The Indian Meteorogical department has said that the temperature will further dip by around 2 degree Celsius in next 24 hours.

The IMD had earlier warned that cold, chilly winds are likely to decrease the minimum temperature in Delhi and other parts of northern India.

In its advisory, issued on Sunday, the IMD had said that the cold wave in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and northern Rajasthan from December 28 will result in an increase in various illnesses like flu, running nose or nosebleed.

"Don't drink alcohol. It reduces your body temperature," the advisory read.

"Get indoors. Eat vitamin-C-rich fruits and moisturize your skin regularly to counter the effects of severe cold," it said.
