Over 11,500 stamps feature at exhibition in Raipur

Raipur : An exhibition of stamps, coins and other Philatelic Material issued on the various anniversaries of Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was organised by Aaditya Pratap Singh Entertainments at Raipur. All the exhibits displayed belong to Dr Bhanu Pratrap Singh an India Book of Records holder who started collecting stamps since 1970 when he was just 9 yrs old.

In this exhibition more than 11,500 stamps were displayed starting from the coronation year 1953, they covered Omnibus issues and other issues as well ,issued on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.  This also includes various Philatelic material on silver Jubilee of coronation ( 1977-78) various coins issued on the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Queen’s Coronation.  Later on the completion of 40 yrs (1993), Golden Jubilee (50 Yrs-2002-2003) , Platinum  Jubilee 60 Yrs (2012-13) and  Sapphire Jubilee 65 yrs (2017-18 ) many such material including Stamps , FDCs Sheets Sheet lets and coins issued .

Raipur based Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh collected various stamps , coins and other Philatelic material issued on Coronation of British Monarch, King George V and King George VI and also The  Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Singh informed that many coins issued on these occasions and used in FDCs to commemorate the coronation.  He informed that on the occasion of QE 2nd Coronation anniversaries Omnibus issues of Stamps were there. In philately, an omnibus issue is an issue of stamps by several countries with a common subject and which may share a uniform design. Omnibus issues have often been made by countries under common political control or groups of colonies due to the close co-operation required to produce the issue. Omnibus issues are to be distinguished from joint issues which are usually much smaller in scope.

Apart from the Philatelic and numismatic displays two big banners of 40 ft each also displayed which covered complete biography of Queen, showing photographs of important events of her life.

Splitsvilla fame, television artist and model Martina Thariyan visited the exhibition and she was quite impressed by watching the collection. She said she has seen such type of collection first time in her life.

Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh Said that the main aim of organising this exhibition was to increase awareness about Philately and Numismatics and also to Increase interest and awareness among children as well college going students. Students from many schools visited the exhibition and surprised to see this huge and unique collection.
