Over 40,000 runners to take part in Delhi half marathon

New Delhi : Despite very poor air quality condition in the national capital, more than 40,000 runners have signed up for the Delhi's half marathon on Sunday along with other races to be held on the same day. According to latest reports, the Air Quality Index (AQI) on Thursday dropped dangerously low to 270.86 with major pollutants PM 2.5.

According to ANI report, the air quality in Delhi touched 391 at Inner Circle, Connaught Place, classified under “very poor”, and posing serious health hazards if exposed for a prolonged duration.

In comparison to 2018, over 10,000 more people have registered themselves for the half marathon this year. A total of 40,633 people have registered for the 21 km, the 10 km, and the 5 km races which will be organized by the Bharti Airtel.

It is expected that most of the participants this year will come up with face masks as the air pollution has been horrifying. Last year, the marathon also witnessed many runners wearing masks while participating in the event.
