Police surprises elderly man with a cake amid lockdown

New Delhi : While the nation is fighting against the coronavirus pandemic, the officials on the frontline are making sure that the people remain easy and calm during the situation. In one of the moving gestures, the Panchkula police went to surprise an elderly man living alone and wished him birthday with a cake.

The man, named Karan Puri who is residing alone in Sector 7, was greeted by the local police with a cake on Tuesday, a gesture which left him teary-eyed.

The moving video has been shared by the IPS officer Pankaj Nain of the Haryana Cadre. 

In the video, a woman officer calls the man, who came out replying thinking the police is there for enquiry, but then suddenly he is offered cake with Happy Birthday wishes. He almost cries and gets overwhelmed with the gesture.

As he takes a moment to wipe his tears, the police can be heard saying, “Koi baat nahi sir, Hum bhi apki family hain”, following which he goes ahead to the cut his special birthday cake, wearing a red party hat.
