Shudh: A device created by IIT Kanpur that can disinfect a room using ultraviolet lights

Kanpur : The coronavirus pandemic is our new normal and we have no choice but to learn how to live with it. More importantly, we need to learn how to stay safe while living with this global pandemic. This is why we have safety and hygiene protocols in place. People have started using the best possible face mask, hand sanitizers, gloves and whatnot but even that hasn't been able to help us prevent coronavirus from spreading further. While we all have turned to carry a sanitizer spray, it might not be enough.

What if you could just sanitize an entire room before you enter it? The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has developed an ultraviolet sanitization product called Shudh. It is claimed that this product can disinfect a room within 15 minutes. Researchers believe that liquid disinfectants have a negative impact and ultraviolet rays might be just what we need.

This device was created by J. Ramkumar, Amandeep Singh and Shivam Sachan. It is operated via Bluetooth and has six UV lights of 15 watts each which can move 360 degrees. All you need to do is install the app and use it to operate the lights and sanitize the room. This light can be controlled remotely and can be used to disinfect places like hospitals, schools, offices and other such crowded places. This UV light takes 15 minutes to disinfect a 10 square feet room. The initial testings as proved that it does work and is completely operational.

We're all very scared to touch surfaces as this virus can survive on surfaces for a very long time. This can put us at the risk of contracting coronavirus which currently has no cure or vaccine. This has left us all living the fear of contracting this virus and infecting those around us and disinfecting a place with some liquid disinfectant is not very practical because we might just end up missing out one little corner and that's all it really takes but this new device developed by IIT Kanpur might be just what we need to feel safer and have proper sanitization around us.
