"This Election - Climate Correction": Solar man of India launches game-changing campaign

New Delhi : The Energy Swaraj Foundation on Saturday launched a game-changing campaign, "This Election - Climate Correction | अबकी बार - जलवायु सुधार," to boost public and political awareness for urgent climate action. With climate impacts intensifying, the current efforts are falling short. Launched on November 25, 2023, ahead of India's Constitution Day, this campaign aims to pivot India's environmental future.

The Energy Swaraj Foundation's campaign aims to reshape the climate narrative in the 2024 General Elections. As carbon emissions rise, India faces increased vulnerability to climate change. The campaign stresses the need for immediate policies and actions to prevent projected losses in life and wealth.

The World Meteorological Organization predicts a global temperature increase of 1.1 to 1.8°C by 2027. Beyond 1.5°C, climate change becomes irreversible, emphasising the need for action in the 2024 elections. As President Barack Obama stated, "We are the last generation that can do something about it."

India's push for global leadership in renewable energy positions it uniquely to lead the fight against climate change. The 2024 elections offer a crucial opportunity to shape India's role and set an example for the world.

The campaign calls on political parties, media, social organizations, and individuals to prioritize climate action. Key actions include integrating climate issues into party manifestos, raising awareness, and asking tough questions to political leaders.

Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, the Solar Man of India and founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, led a workshop and media interaction at Press Club Delhi, urging, "Let’s make climate action a priority in General Elections 2024 - This Election - Climate Correction | अबकी बार - जलवायु सुधार. The time to take action is now!"

A non-political and not-for-profit organisation, the Energy Swaraj Foundation aims to educate political leaders and encourage individuals to stand for election with climate change as a focal point.

About Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki: Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, a distinguished Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Brand Ambassador of Solar Energy for the Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, is renowned for his expertise in renewable energy technologies and sustainable development. On an 11-year Yatra, covering over 45,000 km across India in 1093 days, he aims to create awareness and inspire action for climate correction.
