IRCTC brings Navratri special thali on trains: Enjoy fasting during travel

New Delhi : Navratri 2018 has started and devotees across India are observing fast with full devotion. Concerning the people, IRCTC for the first time, is offering ‘vrat ka khana’ (food during fasting) as a part of its e-catering menu. Yes, now passengers will get Navratri-special thali on trains and continue their fasting during travel without any hassle.

“This year IRCTC, in a bid to make train travel during this time of the year less of a hassle, is offering vrat ka khana’ as a part of its e-catering menu,” the IRCTC statement said.

The catering team added that since ritualistic fast is observed by many people on Navratri, it has been decided to introduce satvik diet in menu from October 10, 2018. The thali includes items made of sabudana, sendha namak, kuttu ka atta, and certain vegetables.

Navratri thali, sabudana khichdi, lassi, fruit chats can be pre-ordered on IRCTC’s e-Catering website www.ecatering.irctc.co.in or Food-on-track’ app.

Passengers may place the order at least two hours before scheduled journey time with a valid PNR and may opt to pre-pay or on delivery, based on convenience.

However, the Navratri special meals will be available at selected railway stations only. These include Ambala, Jaipur, Nagpur, Itarsi, Jhansi, Nasik, Ratlam, Daund, Mathura, Nizamuddin and Lucknow. 

IRCTC is making best possible efforts to make the passengers feel comfortable and happy. It’s their attempt to celebrate the festive season. Happy Navratri!
