Faridabad : Surajkund Mela 2020 or international craft fair is all set to begin from February 1 and will continue till February 16 this year. Every year around 1 million people pay their visits to experience the variety of Indian crafts from all around the country at one place.

The Surajkund Crafts Mela was first hosted in 1987. Since then the festival is hosted annually by the Haryana Tourism Department in Surajkund. This is 34th time the Surajkund Mela will be held at Faridabad.

Surajkund Mela is jointly hosted by the Surajkund Mela Authority in collaboration with the Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, External Affairs, Department of Tourism, Government of Haryana and Haryana Tourism Corporation.

The fair is organized with only one motto and that is the promotion of handicrafts, handlooms with the aid of craftsmen invited from all over the country. This is why it acts as a platform for artists across the globe to present their culture and talent. 

Surajkund Mela 2020: Date and timing

On February 1, 2020, the curtains for Surajkund International Crafts Mela will go up and till February 16, 2020, the Surajkund Mela will continue. The entry gates are opened at 10:30 am and visitors can visit the place till 8:30 pm every day.

Surajkund Mela 2020: Theme

The uniqueness of the Surajkund International Crafts Mela is that one of the Indian states gets the honour to occupy the position of the Theme State each year. The Theme State was conceptualised broadly with a view to promote and focus on art, craft and cuisine of each state of India every year. For the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela-2020, the state of Himachal Pradesh has been chosen to be the Theme State. In 2019, the theme state for the Mela was Maharashtra.

Air Route

Indira Gandhi International airport is the nearest airport. If you are at the Delhi airport then Surajkund is a 35-minute drive for you and if you are at Palam airport then you are 25 km away from Surajkund.

Rail Route

Delhi is the nearest railway junction. But other than that both Faridabad and Gurgaon are both linked to Delhi via railway lines.

Anyone from each of these stations can travel to Surajkund by car/cab or tourist coach.

Road Route

Surajkund is well-connected to Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad via road. It is easily accessible by tour coaches, tourist taxis and other public conveyance.

Bus Route
