New Delhi : Adopting a piece of earth is now possible with NASA's new “Adopt the Planet” campaign.

On the coming Earth Day (April 22), NASA is giving users a chance to virtually adopt a piece of Earth via its new campaign.

Under the campaign, users will be allowed to pick a pice on earth as seen from the space.Once individuals have entered their coordinates for the location they want to adopt, they get to learn more about the piece of land or sea that they have adopted.

Those signing up this initiative will get an e-certificate in their name and recieve the details from NASA’s vaults including satellite imagery of the piece of land or sea that they have “adopted.”

Out of available 64,000 locations, the adopted locations can be seen closely via NASA’s Worldview - a website that enables users to take information about different layers of data and even allows individuals to take a closer look.

The goal is to have the entire planet adopted by Earth Day, April 22.
