Los Angeles : Ever thought of reaching the moon, well now your name can! Yes, a Bengaluru-based startup TeamIndus is now giving you a chance to get your name engraved on Moon. Yes, the Moon! And, they are charging just Rs 500 for the same.

The initiative has been taken up to generate extra revenue to support their mission. According to reports, the company will micro-engrave the name of the donors on a small-sized aluminium object place them on the surface of the Moon when the lander sets foot there.

Reports suggest that the aim of the mission is to successfully land the rover on the moon. This lander will travel at least 500m on the lunar surface and beam back high-definition video and images back to the earth. It will infact lay the path for Chandrayaan-2 mission.

The company will use ISRO’s PSLV to lift up the rover on December 28, 2017 that will explore the moon. ISRO scientists have stated that if the mission is successful they will the use the technology and develop the Chandrayaan-2 lander for exploration of Moon.

The mission will be the second one after ISRO’s Chandrayaan 1 which was launched in 2008. But experts believe that the Chandrayaan-2 mission is still in early stages and no mission update and launch dates have been announced by the officials yet.

TeamIndus co-founder and Director Julius Amrit said, “The total expense of the project is about USD 60 million and we have raised USD 15 million so far. We will have to raise the remaining amount by September-October next year.”
