Security issue in Zoom: Elon Musk's SpaceX ban use of zoom video service for communication

Washington : In a major setback for Zoom, the Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX has banned the use of the video conferencing application due to its security policies which have raised doubts of misusing the information.

With a sudden rise in the users of Zoom due to lockdown, its privacy policy has come under the scanner.

With users like SpaceX and NASA, there are needs of tight security and in accordance with the policies.

In a memo dated March 28, obtained by Reuters, that was circulated within the circle of its employees, Space X has told its workers that their access to company's Zoom properties has been entirely disabled effective immediately.

"We understand that many of us were using this tool for conferences and meeting support," said SpaceX in the mail, seen by Reuters and confirmed by two people familiar with the development. "Please use email, text or phone as alternate means of communication." SpaceX has more than 6,000 employees working from different locations in the US.

According to the Reuters report, the decision has been taken after the FBI raised concerns and mentioned loopholes in the app's privacy policy.

Even NASA has barred its employees from using Zoom, a company spokesperson confirmed.
