New Delhi : Thomas Pesquet, an ESA astronaut who is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) shared a video on social media showing himself doing squats using some heavy equipment which is the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED) of the ISS.

He named his physical exercise “space workout”. Check out the video below:

With a long duration in space station, the mental health of astronauts gets affected. To diminish the adverse effects, efforts are being made to replicate as much of earth-born organic things as possible on the ISS like colourful veggies. For example, astronauts aboard the ISS have been reported to be growing red and green chile (chili) peppers as they need Vitamin-C rich and spicy foods.

To ensure astronauts do not lose their sense of smell and taste, it is important for them to have such types of foods. The colour, taste and smell of food is said to help them recover. Physical exercises are another way to keep them focused and fit.

Tell us if the video motivates you to do the work out in real life.
