New Delhi : It seems that the New Year 2019 will begin with a grand celestial event. The spectacular 'Super Blood Wolf Moon' is expected to excite sky watchers across the globe. A few days are the New Year day the world will witness Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse from January 20 onwards. It is when the moon will be at one of its closest positions on earth. This blood moon event will be followed by three celestial events and each of them will give incredible sight across the winter night sky. 

So, what exactly is 'Super Blood Wolf Moon'? 

It is a rare 'Super Blood Wolf Moon' eclipse in 2019 when the moon will pass through the earth's shadow. Each Full Moon has a specific name, and the one going to occur in January is named 'Super Blood Wolf Moon'. According to a report, the reason for this name is that in native American times wolves would appear outside villages and howl in hunger at the full moon. The Full Moon is also a Super Moon and Blood Moon, creating the Super Blood Wolf Moon. 

To inform a Super Moon occurs when the full moon is as close to earth than usual, which is why it appears larger. This is due to the moon being very near perigee, the closest possible distance from earth. However, a Blood Moon sees the moon change to a coppery red hue due to light refraction.

How, when and where to see Super Blood Wolf Moon in 2019

The Super Blood Wolf Moon will be visible on the night-side of earth, which includes South America, the eastern Pacific Ocean, the western Atlantic Ocean and extreme Western Europe. Starting late evening on Jan 20, this total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout the U.S. and will finish during the wee hours of January 21. It begins at 9:36 pm EST (8:06 am IST) on January 20 and end at 2:48 am EST (1:18 pm IST) on January 21. 

Now, if you are thinking about carrying equipment, then let's be clear that you need no special equipment to witness the Super Blood Wolf Moon. People can just go their backyards to view the event, away from any street lights, especially blue light.
