New Delhi : This news is for those skywatchers, who are waiting for some happening celestial event. Yes, after the spectacular series of blood moon show, it is time to gear up for the century biggest solar eclipse. The total solar eclipse to take place on April 8, 2024 will provide a panoramic view of the sky when the moon will block the mighty Sun's entire disk resulting in dimming and cooling of the atmosphere for some minutes. The moon will orbit about 239,000 miles from Earth and will appear the same size in the sky as the Sun.

The total solar eclipse in 2024 will be clearly visible in United States and the people in America will witness a celestial event like no other in their lifetime.

During a total solar eclipse, the moon and the sun are positioned in the same line and this phenomenon happens almost once every 18 months. This means, that on an average, two to five solar eclipse are seen each year. However, not all the situation creates a total solar eclipse. Before the event on April 8, 2024, there will be a solar eclipse on October 14, 2023 which will be annular, meaning, the moon will block the sun fire disk from the centre, leaving an outer ring of the solar disk visible during the eclipse.

Details of Total Solar Eclipse in 2024

The solar eclipse in 2024 will be visible for 4 minutes and 28 seconds. In Austin, Texas, the eclipse will begin at 12:17 pm CDT while the totality will start at 1:36 pm CDT. On the other hand, the totality of the eclipse will end at 1:38 pm CDT, while the whole eclipse will end at 2:58 pm CDT.
