Police on Wednesday confirmed that Kathua Chief Judicial Magistrate has issued a warrant of arrest against Choudhary Rajinder Singh, brother of senior BJP leader, Choudhary Lal Singh, for using abusive language against state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Attacking Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta for his remarks that the Kathua rape-murder case was a "minor issue", the Congress on Tuesday said it is "absolutely blasphemous" and demanded that he be sacked.

The Congress on Monday criticised Jammu and Kashmir's Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta's statement that the Kathua rape-murder case was a "minor issue" and said that the party's slogan of "Beti Bachao" (save girl child) was a in fact a warning.

In an embarrassment to the ruling PDP-BJP alliance, Jammu and Kashmir's new Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta said after being sworn in that the Kathua rape and murder was a "small issue".

A four-year-old girl was raped by a youth in Odisha's Balasore district, police said on Sunday. The accused, 24-year-old Nityacharan Jena, is the neighbour of the girl, the police said.

Speaking for the first time over the shocking rape-murder of a minor in Jammu and Kashmir and the rape of another minor in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said such incidents have shamed the country and assured that justice will be done and culprits won't be allowed to escape.
