Election Commission of India has reportedly given a clean chit to PM Narendra Modi for the eighth time in the model code violation complaints, including one relating to his ‘roadshow’ in Ahmedabad on April 23 and April 9 speech at Chitradurga, Karnataka.

In a letter dated April 30, the Election Commission sought a report on the aforesaid complaint from the Madhya Pradesh Electoral officer, following the order, the CEO submitted a letter with a transcript of Rahul Gandhi's speech.

Responding to Election Commission’s show cause notice, Vivek Oberoi along with his lawyer Hitesh Jain appeared before the election body on Thursday.

With the announcement of elections in five states, the model code of conduct (MCC) has come into force immediately, which will be applicable to the Union government also insofar as announcements and polity decisions pertaining to the states.
