Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who had made sexist remark against the Bharatiya Janata Party's lawmaker, apologized to Rama Devi in the Parliament on Monday.

Hours after Bhaujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati announced that her party will be fighting alone in the upcoming by-polls, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also made a similar announcement.

After facing a flak in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Election 2019, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday said that her party will contest alone in the upcoming bypolls.

Addressing an election rally in Hardoi, he took a pot shot on Mayawati, saying that the BSP supremo has betrayed her ideology by allying with "those opposed" to Dalit ideologue and social reformer BR Ambedkar. BSP has gone in alliance with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party.

Former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress President had joined hands but their alliance did not last long as they parted their ways ahead of Lok Sabha bypolls for the seats vacated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya, who were elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 parliamentary polls.

Azam Khan had courted a controversy over his remark: "You made the person your representative for 10 years. Understanding the person's real face you took 17 years. I realised in 17 days that the underwear beneath is of the khaki colour."

Taking a step against hate speeches, the Election Commission has barred UP CM Yogi Adityanath and BSP supremo Mayawati from campaigning for 72 hours and 48 hours respectively starting from tomorrow morning.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019: Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati on Wednesday said that she will not be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019, instead, she will campaign for the candidates of her party and Samajwadi Party.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls, Bahujan Samajwadi Party will be contesting on 38 seats while Samajwadi Party will battle on 37 seats.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has been stopped from boarding a flight to Prayagraj at the Lucknow airport, said reports. The SP leaders have now staged a protest against the act by state government.
