Satnam wins first WBC India Featherweight Title

New Delhi : A sensational 10-round thriller between Amey Nitin, from Pune and Satnam Singh, from Delhi concludes with Satnam winning his maiden Belt of the first WBC India Featherweight Title. The fight between the two boxers was extremely close and Satnam won by a Majority Decision.

It was the Fight of the Night and both the Boxers went toe-to-toe with each other, the entire 10-rounds. It was an exhibition of high-quality, high-intensity and high-octane action throughout. It was the best of professional boxing on display with Amey and Satnam both going at each other right away and it was clear both wanted the Title Belt around their waist at the end of the Fight.

The Fight kept swinging in balance, from one side to the other, throughout and it was an extremely difficult Fight to call for the audience. It was Satnam, who showed more resilience and stamina and landed more clean hits, in the end to swing the result in his favour by a Majority Decision, 91-99, 94-96, 95-95. It was the most remarkable Fight not just of the night but of the whole UPB Fight Club Season 1.

Anirudh Pathak, Founder, United Professional Boxing, said, "We have seen Fights and then we see Fights, which make Nights. This was one such Fight and kudos to Satnam for knicking it, in the end. Amey also fought valiantly and gave a display of his tremendous Boxing prowess."

In other action on the Fight Card in the night, we had 5 other bouts, all of which went the distance. It was as if all the Boxers wanted to make the UPB Fight Club Season 1 Finale their own. In the first Fight, Varun prevailed over Pawan, who fought quite well and showed tremendous valour. In the second Bout, Rakesh outclassed Amarnath with his superior Boxing skills. The third Fight of the night showed Pawan win over Sandeep through clearer landing of punches and in the fourth fight, Vishwas went on to win because of sheer grit.

The fifth and penultimate Fight saw Adil and Saurabh, two of the brightest light weighted boxers in the country, go at each other for glory. Both are technically gifted and exceptionally driven in the Sport, and went for glory in this Super Flyweight contest. It was also another Majority Decision (57-57, 55-59, 56-58) of the night, which went in favour of Saurabh because of his slightly better connection of the punches; however Adil also demonstrated why he is one the most promising boxers in the country today.

Anirban Roy, Founder, United Professional Boxing, said, "We have had a tremendous night and a great season. We have seen 38 Fights and a lot many Boxers came to the platform to display their boxing skills. This gives us tremendous confidence to pursue Season 2, which we'll announce soon."
